Oftentimes, we know where we want to be in 5 years. However, the daily urgent stuff keeps us where we are right now. How to build a bridge to connect today and the future? How to transcend from an exhausting and unfulfilling day to your dream life? I am sure everybody is looking for the magic pill, including me. Rod Dyrdek was a professional skateboarder and knew nothing about business. In 6 years, he built 17 companies and successfully exited 6. The amazing part is, he achieves all these while living a happy and balanced life: he spends 1/3 of his time on sleep, 1/3 on family, and 1/3 on business. He then optimizes his routine within each bucket. He said: “I am a human optimizer…towards a happy life”. I listened to the whole podcast many times and it completely blew my mind. I highly recommend it to anyone who is struggling with the disconnection between today and the future.
